Mamelodi mother and three sons still missing two months later

The family claimed they last saw the mother, who was diagnosed with a mental condition, on November 6 when she came and took her three children to the nearest shopping mall.

Police and the Ntuli family have appealed to the public to help find a missing mother and her three sons.

Bongi Maria Ntuli (32) of Skierlik in Mamelodi East was last seen taking the children to Mams Mall on November 6.

According to sister, Lindiwe Mnguni, her nephews are aged 10, 2 years, and 10 months old.

Mnguni said she assumed the duty of care and guardianship over the children when her sister was admitted to Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.

She said she allowed her sister to take her children for merry-go-round rides because her condition was normal on medication.

“The thought of her running away with her children was far from my mind because when she was discharged by Weskoppies, she was normal,” said Mnguni.

She said her sister had also visited her children a couple of days before asking permission to take them to the mall, which was not far from her home.

Ntuli and the children had not returned home since, and she did not know what they wore on the day.

Police spokesperson Constable Penelope Khulong said police are investigating a case of a missing mother and three children.

She said the family reported that Ntuli suffers from a mental illness, and she was last seen wearing a long striped dress.

The family further said they have searched everywhere in Mamelodi for her, and in Moloto since they were reportedly seen there.

“We have searched almost everywhere for her, at friends’ places and with family members, and she went missing without taking her mental illness medication,” said the family.

Police said there is no waiting period to report a missing person.
