Prestigious ranking places Unisa among SA’s top eight

Unisa continues to make major strides in research excellence, reaching eighth position among South Africa’s top universities

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has been hailed as one of the country’s top institutions in demonstrating commitment to research excellence.

University professor and Vice-Principal Thenjiwe Meyiwa said Unisa’s academics have continued to produce research that was relevant and of international standard.

“This is an important drawcard in attracting quality academics and students to the university. I salute all academics at the university for this remarkable achievement and hope 2024 will continue to see the university’s rise in global rankings,” said Meyiwa.

The QS World University Rankings are published annually by British education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and are seen as one of the world’s most important university rankings.
