Far east without power as substation trips

The power outage is also causing water purification plants to be off which affect water supply.

Parts of the far east in region 7 have been without power since Monday following a trip to an Eskom substation in Emalahleni.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the trip also caused water purification plants in region 7 to be off.

The following areas are affected: Ekangala, Rethabiseng, Zithoben, Bronkhorstspruit and Bronkhorstbaai.

Mashigo said the power utility is investigating the cause.

“The city will provide residents with information as well as restoration time as and when Eskom gives an update on repairs,” he said.

He said in the interest of safety, all electrical appliances must always be treated as live (still on) during this interruption of service supply.

He said the city apologised profusely for any inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of this blackout.
