EFF march to Israel embassy causes road closures in east of Pretoria

The red berets call for cutting of ties with the Israeli government.

The EFF, led by its leader Julius Malema, marched from Laudium to the Israeli embassy on Monday morning.

The purpose of the march was to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.

EFF regional leader Obakeng Ramabodu said his organisation felt it was important to highlight the plight of those tangled up in the conflict.

“It is time for the entire globe to realise the human rights crisis has reached boiling point,” said Ramabodu.

The march started near Laudium and carried on via Lynnwood Road towards the Israel embassy on King’s Highway.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes.

In a statement, the EFF said the retaliatory attacks by the Israeli military have reached the point of genocide and what it called the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

The party also questioned the South African government as to why it still had economic ties with Israel.
