N1 accident claims one

Motorists are advised of some traffic delays as one lane on the N4 heading to Pretoria remains closed.

A man has died following an accident at the Proefplaas N1 interchange just after noon on Wednesday.

A lane of the N4 highway towards Pretoria remain closed.

Pro Med emergency medical service spokesperson Michael Gough said when medics arrived at the scene at 12:30, a man in one vehicle was already dead.

The vehicle rolled off the bridge and ended on its roof on the N4.

Gough confirmed that he was the only occupant.

“It was believed that the vehicle crashed into the barrier and rolled off the bridge ending on its roof on the N4,” said Gough.

“One lane and the emergency lane are closed at this stage on the N4 west.”

He said that emergency services were awaiting investigation units before the scene could be cleared.
