March in Pta CBD today over Zim election results

Several streets in Pretoria will be affected as Zimbabweans take to the streets of Pretoria to reject the Zimbabwe election results.

A march is scheduled for this Friday and may cause traffic jams in Arcadia and Hatfield, the metro police warned.

The ERA of Zimbabwe will march to the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Hatfield from the Union Buildings triangle on Stanza Bopape Street in Arcadia to protest the election results in Zimbabwe, the TMPD said.

The movement is rejecting the Zimbabwean election results. The current Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa won 52.6% of the vote and will enter his second term. His challenger Nelson Chamisa only managed to obtain 44% of the votes.

The march will begin in the triangle at 10:00 and end at the Zimbabwean Embassy at 13:00, according to the metro police statement.

The protesters will march towards Francis Baard Street, turn right into Eastwood Street then left into Marten Avenue.

The metro police said the following streets will be affected: Pretorius, Stanza Bopape, Francis Baard, Eastwood, Marten and East Avenue.

TMPD officers will be stationed in the affected streets to supervise the march.

Alternative routes such as Burnett Street, Hilda Street, Beckett Street, Blackwood Street, and Government Street are recommended.
