Pretoria CBD without water after contractor damages pipe

Metro spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo said the artisans from Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department had to isolate the Salvokop Reservoir to repair the ruptured pipe.

The municipality had to shut down the Salvokop reservoir on Tuesday to repair a damaged section of the pipe.

A contractor involved in the construction of a new reservoir near Pretoria central had damaged the outgoing pipe earlier on Tuesday.

Metro spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo said Tshwane water and sanitation artisans had to isolate the reservoir to repair the ruptured pipe.

“The damage to the pipe has left residents, consulates, institutions and businesses in various areas in and around Pretoria CBD without water,” Mashigo added.

He said the city has arranged resources, in the form of required material to ascertain repair work is effectively carried out and without delay.

The following areas stand to be affected by the water supply interruption:

-Sunnyside
– Salvokop
– Arcadia
– Eastwood
– Groenkloof,
– Muckleneuk
– Trevenna
– Clydesdale
– the south of the Pretoria CBD

Mashigo apologised profusely about the unplanned interruption, which caused an inconvenience as the water supply has been cut off.

“Consumers are assured that city management will pull out all the stops to restore water to the affected customers.”
