Mrs Globe beauty pageant adds value to society

A spectacular Mrs Globe South Africa pageant is scheduled for November 12 at Sun Arena, Time Square, east of Pretoria.

The Mrs Globe South Africa beauty pageant is set to benefit, among others, the community members and all 40 contestants.

“Our contestants will have to execute tasks that will add value to people’s lives and make a difference to their communities,” Mrs Globe South Africa events co-ordinator Johan Ungerer told Rekord.

The Mrs Globe Press and Media event was held at Maslow Hotel, Time Square, east of Pretoria on Tuesday.

Ungerer said the competition was about all women selected to participate, citing that it was important to them to see the women succeed in life – no matter whether they win or do not win the competition.

“Being selected in this competition means you are a winner and winning or not winning the crown does not matter.”

He said Mrs Globe South Africa was not just another pageant but a platform for participating women to empower one another.

“It is about self-love and caring for others.”

He said it was about caring for your community and showing people in your community that anything is possible.

“I do not need to stay in a mansion in Sandton and be a multimillionaire in order to care for my community.”

The three-month long period of changing lives for both general community members and final 40 contestants will culminate with a spectacular Mrs Globe South Africa pageant, scheduled to take place on November 12 at the Sun Arena, Time Square.

Mrs Globe image and style consultant Johanni Steenkamp said the winner of competition will contest at an international level.

Steenkamp said, with over 83 countries participating, Mrs Globe was an exciting international pageant.

She said, as the Mrs Globe South African organisation, their aim was to bring international pageants to the country within the next three years.

Speaking about local contestants she said they wanted to empower the ladies by giving them the tools and skills.

Sharing her experience of participating in the pageant Lolo Phala said she wished every woman could enter the competition because it had changed her life.

“I am different today and proud of myself because I once entered a pageant. You go in and when you come out you are a super powerful woman,” she said.

She said participating in the event helped her identify her hidden talent and capabilities.

The now-businesswoman said one of her biggest achievements was the sisterhood.

“I am still in touch with a lot of sisters I met at the pageant and together we support one another as women.”

Ungerer said all the contestants had been selected and that Mrs Globe does not discriminate.

“You can be 27 to 45 years old, you can be single, married or divorced, you can be a woman of any shape, size and colour.”

He said they wanted women to be proud of who they are and appreciate their natural beauty.
