Ga-Rankuwa and parts of Cullinan to be affected by water interruptions

“The water interruption is scheduled to occur on March 29 from 09h00 for five hours in Cullinan and for eight hours in Ga-Rankuwa.”

On Tuesday March 29, residents of Ga-Rankuwa including Sjambok Zijn Oude Kraal and parts of Cullinan will be affected by a planned water supply interruption.

According to Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, the water will be off from 09:00 for five hours in Cullinan and for eight hours in Ga-Rankuwa.

“The reason for the interruptions is that the city will be installing a 200mm bulk water pipe at Cullinan and a bulk meter at Ga-Rankuwa East reservoir outlet.

“All the metro’s relevant reservoirs will be filled to capacity prior to the shutdown and tankers will be on standby for alternative water supply to all the affected areas.”

Mashigo said it is a common and recommended practice that infrastructure (together with components) be maintained or upgraded to avoid an unnecessary shutdown or collapse.

He urged residents not to waste water and to use it sparingly.
