Man arrested for having unlicensed firearm in Salvokop

"A 9mm pistol and live rounds of ammunition were recovered and seized."

Pretoria Central Police arrested a man roaming the streets with a 9mm pistol and live rounds of ammunition in Salvokop on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Tumisang Moloto said police members attached to sector policing were on a routine patrol in the area when they were informed of a man who was in possession of an  unlicensed firearm.

“They followed up the information and a man fitting the description of the suspect was spotted. When he saw the Police, the suspect attempt to flee but he was cornered and arrested,” he said.

Moloto said the man faces a charge of possession of an  unlicensed firearm.

Pretoria central station commnder  Brigadier Moses Dladla expressed his gratitude towards the residents of Salvokop  for reporting the crime.
