Missing pharmacist from Laudium found deceased

“Family and friends were deeply saddened and shocked.”

The body of a pharmacist from Laudium was found in his motor vehicle in the parking lot of a mall in Centurion last night after he was reported missing a few hours earlier.

Sergeant Divine Nkuna the Wierdabrug police spokesperson, confirmed it and said no foul play was suspected.

Family members of Riaz Mukadam (59) reported him missing last night.

He was discovered deceased in his motor vehicle at around 23:00 by a security guard at the Lifestyle Centre in Eldoraigne while locking up, said a friend of the family.

“He was last seen at around 17:30 when he left his pharmacy at Clicks. When he did not come home, his family members got worried and reported him missing.

“Riaz had a heart condition and must have had a heart attack between 18:30 and 23:00 when he was found.”

He was buried in the early morning hours at 03:00 today per Muslim tradition, he said.

“Family and friends were deeply saddened and shocked.

“He leaves behind friends and family members. He was not married and had no children.”

JP le Roux, a spokesperson for Monitor Net, said they responded to the call at around 23:00. A security guard reported someone in a white Toyota Corolla was not responsive. Paramedics were also on the scene.

“He was in the driver’s seat, but unfortunately deceased, and declared dead on the scene by paramedics,” Le Roux said.

Le Roux said no foul play was suspected, according to family members the cause of his death was a heart attack.
