Firearm licence applicants to collect cards

The applicants are urged to either report to the police station or contact their firearm department to check the status of their applications and/or collect their firearm licence cards.

Pretoria North police called on firearm licence applicants to report to the station and collect their cards.

“Due to the faulty system, it is difficult for us to send messages to the applicants to notify them about the status of their applications,” spokesperson Sergeant Tsakani Miyen said.

She explained that the applicants were initially informed that they would be notified about the status of their applications and when to collect their licence cards via SMS, but a fault in the system has caused a backlog.

“There was agreement that they would be updated via SMS, but now, the system is no longer sending SMSes,” Miyen said.

The applicants were now urged to either report to the police station or contact their firearm department to check the status of their applications.

“They can either come in or call to check,” she said.

The firearm department could be reached on 012 353 5673/674/678.
