Low water bridges in Centurion flooding

“Areas such as End Street, John Vorster Drive and Gerhard Street are flooded. A vehicle floated down End Street this morning.”

Tshwane’s emergency services warned residents of Centurion on Friday that low water bridges in the area were flooding.

According to TES spokesperson, Charles Mabaso following the rain, there was flooding of the Irene and Blackwood low water bridges in Centurion.

“As such we are calling on drivers and residents in the area to avoid crossing these low water bridges.”

Mabaso said: “At around 11:00 this morning, a SUV was stuck on the Blackwood low water bridge and subsequently recovered by a tow-truck. The occupants were safe, however, it is risky behaviour to try and cross a low water bridge when flooded.”
