Motorists faced driving through flooded roads as different areas of Pretoria experienced flash floods on Friday afternoon.
These weather conditions were expected to occur throughout the Gauteng province. The heavy rains were expected to occur from Friday 04:00 until Saturday 02:00. SAWS warned that the flash floods could pose danger to life.
This was the same situation in some parts of Montana in the north of Pretoria. Low water bridges in Centurion also experienced floods from Friday morning.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson, Charles Mabaso warned that it was risky to cross a low water bridge when flooded.

The Tshwane emergency services department has identified the following areas as flooding hotspots during heavy rains:

– Parts of Suurman and Sekampaneng
– Parts of Majaneng

– The low water bridges in:
– Es’kia Mphahlele and Van der Hoff – Apies River
– Rebecca and N4
– Schutter and N4 train bridge
– Schutter and WF Nkomo
– Rogerdyson and Industrial train bridge
Region 4
– End and Rabie streets
– Blackwood Street
– Centurion Lake Hotel’s bridge
– Nellmapius bridge
– Littelton Street
– Super Sport Park bridge
Region 6
– Rubenstein, Moreleta dam
– Roussow, Willows
– Old Bronkhorstpruit
– Watermeyer/Pretoria Road
– Silverlakes
– Banana bridge Mamelodi
