Where to vote in the north of Pretoria

Find out where you can go to cast your vote in the upcoming elections.

With each local government/municipal election, ward boundaries change.

And for Ward 98, Pretoria North and Akasia, this year it is the same.

As of November 1, the Smiley Kids voting station in The Orchards will form part of ward 4 going forward.

The venue for Ninapark was previously at SANCA Pretoria but has moved to Stigmatine Welfare Association, corner of Berg and Waterbok streets.

“Just keep your eyes open for the IEC directional boards,” advised ward councillor Marnette Sutherland.

Residents should remember that with a municipal (LGE) election a resident can only vote if:

– He/she is registered to vote on the IEC databank.

– At the voting station where his/her name is on the voters’ roll. An individual’s name appears only on one voting station’s voters roll.

The voters roll is currently open to register or re-register until the end of the registration weekend (18 and 19 September).

There are two methods of registering:

– Online registration or re-registration at registertovote.co.za

– Visit the voting station closest to you on 18 and 19 September (from 08:00 to 17:00 on both days).

There are three very easy methods to follow to see where you are registered:

– SMS your ID number to the IEC SMS facility: 32810. You will receive an SMS with your specific detail on it.

– Check online using the IEC website.

– Visit the voting station in person during the registration weekend (18-19 September) from 08:00-17:00.

Residents have until September 20 to registered or re-register to be able to take part in the election on November 1.

“Empower yourself and your community and ensure you can vote,” advised Sutherland.

We acknowledge that the print and digital media plays an important role when it comes to informing communities before and during election periods.

Caxton Local Media tells readers what they must know on the practicalities of voting, and provides information regarding the right and duty to vote. Where necessary, we de-bunk mis- and disinformation relating to elections.

We reflect a multiplicity of voices in our pre-election and election reporting, and do not allow favouritism or biasedness in favour of any party or candidate. Where topics are discussed by political representatives [or commentators – optional], or where reporting features various parties or figures, we allow for the reflection of multiple voices of all those involved. Being balanced is our goal.
