Gauteng education grades 1 and 8 applications close Friday

The Gauteng Department of Education reminded parents that phase 2 of their 2022 online admissions application period for grades 1 and 8 will close on Friday.

The department’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona said the site would be shut by midnight.

“As of October 7, our system recorded 250 450 applications made for grade 1 and 30 409 applications made for grade 8.”

Mabona said this brought the total of successful phase 2 applications to 280 859.

“Applications can still be made on www.gdeadmissions.gov.za. Parents are also reminded to upload their documents onto our system when applying, ensuring that each uploaded document is certified.”

He said the placement period would run from October 15 until November 30.

Parents who applied during the application period would receive placement offers via SMS.

Mabona said the SMSes would be sent at that stage.

The department thanked everyone involved in this year’s applications.

“To the scores of parents and guardians who patiently followed the application process to completion: we are exceedingly grateful to you all,” said Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
