Laudium man shot, undisclosed amount of money stolen

The victim was attacked by three men who opened fire at him through his car's window near his home in Laudium on Monday afternoon.

Laudium police are investigating a case of attempted murder and armed robbery after a man was shot and rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon.

Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said the man was shot at the corner of 6th and 4th avenues in Laudium.

“Police received an anonymous tip-off about a shooting on the street and responded swiftly on the information provided,” Chokoe said, adding that on arrival at the scene, they found that the man had been rushed to hospital for treatment.

“It is alleged that the man walked out of his yard and jumped into his vehicle which was parked in front of the yard.

“Just before he could drive off, three unknown male suspects approached him and shot him, leaving him wounded on his upper body.”

He said the man was shot through the vehicle’s window.

Chokoe said an undisclosed amount of money was taken in a bag

“The suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla known as (‘Kentucky rounder’) with unknown registration.“

He said no one was arrested.

A case of attempted murder and armed robbery has been opened at Laudium SAPS for investigation.

Police asked anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact SAPS on 08600-10111 or to contact local police.
