Four nabbed for drugs in Laudium

"Inside 10 small zip-lock transparent plastic packets containing a white powdery substance were found."

Four people were arrested in three separate incidents in Laudium this week.

In one incident on Tuesday, police received a tip-off about a suspicious-looking vehicle driving around Laudium.

“The vehicle was spotted driving around Corrundum Street and it was cornered by officers,” said Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe.

“The vehicle, which was carrying two occupants, was searched. Inside 10 small zip-lock transparent plastic packets containing a white powdery substance were found in their possession.”

Chokoe said both suspects were immediately arrested for dealing drugs.

In a separate incident, police spotted a grey Hyundai sedan driving along the R55.

“The vehicle was followed and stopped. Searching the vehicle, officers found five zip-lock transparent plastic containing substance suspected to be drugs (CAT),” Chokoe said.

A 41-year-old man was arrested.

Earlier this week, Chokoe said a 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs on Mocha Street.

Laudium SAPS Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Nkwane applauded the officers for continuous hard work and success.

She further encouraged members of the communities to continue the partnership with the police on fighting crime.
