Laudium police aim to keep drugs out of the community

A man in his 30's was arrested for possession of suspected crystal meth.

Laudium police called on the community to help them weed out drugs in the area.

Over the past few weeks, police have increased their visibility in the area where they joined hands with security groups and the local CPF.

Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said the issue of drugs was still a problem in the area.

“More people need to come forward to report anyone who’s suspected to be dealing in drugs in the area,” he said.

Over the weekend, a man was arrested for possession of drugs during a police operation in Mocha Street.

“He was walking alone in the streets when he was stopped by police. Police found eight transparent small plastic bags containing a white-powdered substance wrapped in his possession. It was suspected to be crystal meth,” he said.

The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs.

Laudium police have encouraged the community to continue partnering with them in fighting crime by contacting SAPS on 08600 10111 or contact your local police station.
