Nellmapius toddler missing since Sunday

The security guard said he saw a lady wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans walking with the children.

A Mamelodi East family is desperately looking for their son who has been missing since Sunday afternoon.

Ashlin Mokwana (3) was last seen playing with his four-year-old stepbrother in Nellmapius extension 22.

According to mum Daphney Mokwana, she and her partner were sitting inside a car while the two children were playing next to it.

The car was parked next to Vhararani offices in Nellmapius extension 22 in an open veld.

Mokwana said they realised Ashlin was missing around 17:00.

The couple searched for the boy and even asked one of the security guards working at Vhararani who directed them to a woman he claimed to have seen walking with Ashlin and another child.

Mokwana said the woman was known to the family.

“When we confronted the woman, she said she had left Ashlin sitting in the shade of a nearby tree,” said Mokwana.

The family of Mokwana immediately opened a missing person’s case at the Mamelodi East police station on Sunday, after searching for Ashlin in vain.

“Ashlin was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue trousers and he was not wearing his shoes.”

She said his shoes were in the car and he had been playing barefoot.

Police spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane pleaded with the public to help the police in searching for the missing boy.

“The missing person’s case was reported by the mother and the police have already started with investigations,” said Mashiloane.

If anyone has any information, they can contact the family on 072-640-9207 or contact the police on 08600-10111.
