Central’s rising artist does it for God

“Whatever we do, it must involve the word of God, remembering that we came on this earth with a mission."

Misheck Siwela (20), is an inspired young gospel artist who produces remarkable tracks with the aim of spreading the gospel of God.

Misheck is known by his stage name Mayten, a combination of the month (May) and Ten which is the tenth day on the calendar.

Rekord visited Mayten to hear how he had made it to where he is now.

According to the gospel artist, he started his music career when he was only 14 years old.

He told Rekord that music was something he would never give up on.

“I grew up in a musical family and seeing my two big brothers making music really made me want to do the same.

“However, growing up loving going to church, I decided to serve God, by singing gospel to praise Him and win souls for Him through music,” said Mayten.

In Mayten’s family, he is recognised as a hard worker.

He managed to release more than seven tracks and is ready to release and album at his young age.

“It is all about hard work, being humble, and being determined and, guess what, it keeps me going.

“I just never rest, I feel like I haven’t done enough yet and it’s only just the beginning,” said Mayten.

“Many artists have given up because they have not made it in the industry. Some have given up because they cannot get their songs to trend.

“My family and friends always encourage me and they always tell me not to give up. It really keeps me strong, knowing I am not on my own.

“In the industry you need to know where you are going and the reason why you started.

“Do not give up without a fight if it is your calling.”

He said “prophet” Shepherd Bushiri inspired him to do his best through his teachings.

One of the quotes he kept in mind was “never give up, you are rising”.

“Whatever we do, it must involve the word of God, remembering that we came on this earth with a mission.

“I am still working on my album right now; I cannot say when it will be released, but it will be announced on my social media platforms,” Mayten concluded.
