State-of-Tshwane march to disrupt CBD traffic

Motorists are advised to avoid the affected streets and use alternative routes.

The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) has vowed to take to the streets of the Pretoria CBD on Friday morning, to protest against “poor governance in the city of Tshwane municipality”.

Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the protest would affect some streets.

Marchers were expected to gather from 09:00 at the old Putco depot in Marabastad and move to Tshwane House on Madiba Street.

“They are expected to disperse from Tshwane House at 14:00,” Mahamba said.

“Tshwane metro police officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.”

The following intersections will be affected:

– Cowie Street

– Kgosi Mampuru Street

– Johannes Ramokhoase Street

– Bosman Street

– Paul Kruger Street

– Thabo Sehume Street

– Lilian Ngoyi Street

Motorists are advised to avoid the affected streets and use these alternative routes:

– WF Nkomo Street

– Pretorius Street

– Francis Baard Street

– Nana Sita Street

– Visagie Street
