Botanical Gardens hosts Banting market

The outdoor market in Pretoria offers the most beautiful, tranquil setting where you can buy the best products for breakfast, lunch or to take home.

Real Food Market, otherwise known as the Banting market took place at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens on Saturday morning.

The outdoor market in Pretoria offers the most beautiful, tranquil setting where you can buy the best products for breakfast, lunch or to take home.

Market owner Karin Loots said the food on display is fabulous sugar-free and healthy.

“There are about 50-56 stalls every week and each vendor sells a different variety of food or drinks. We [are] very specific on what we want to sell and I always make sure that the vendors use the right ingredients,” she said.

“We don’t really have a market we cater for, everyone is Welcome to join us every first Saturday of the month.”

Loots said the market is free of charge.

“We have a parkrun on Saturday morning here and most of the runners check in here to grab something to drink after the run.

Entry for free and everyone can enjoy some live music. We want families to come and enjoy the fabulous real food, healthy., she said

One of the vendors Luke Carelsen encouraged a Banting diet.

“I lost 40kg in just six months thanks to banting. I changed my diet and today I’m happy to eat everything that’s gluten-free. I’m feeling healthier than I was a few months ago.”
