Tshwane central police to auction unclaimed goods

The Tshwane central police cluster will sell the unclaimed recovered stolen property by auction on Monday.

The Tshwane central police cluster will sell the unclaimed recovered stolen property by auction on 21 November.

Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said this would happen at the Pretoria Moot police station next Month

The items on auction will be from Brooklyn, Sunnyside, Moot, Silverton, Garsfontein, Lyttelton and Villieria police stations.

“We will be auctioning unserviceable government properties (sic) as well as unclaimed properties forfeited to the state.”

The items on sale can be viewed on the day of the auction between 08:30 to 09:30, he said.

Mavimbela said bids for these items would be accepted from 10:00 and the successful bidder would be announced at 11:30.

“Payments for these items must be in cash only.”

Mavimbela has urged residents who also reported the stolen property to make it a habit to visit their local police stations to claim property that may belong to them.

“Most victims of crime are unable to provide the police with serial numbers of their properties, which reduces the chances of having property returned to the lawful owners.”
