Central police discovered a foetus at the corner of Bosman and Struben streets on Monday.
The foetus was dumped next to a tree outside Laerskool Eendracht in the CBD.
Spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said police were informed of the foetus by a passerby.
“A case of concealment of birth is being investigated,” she said.
