BREAKING NEWS: Brooklyn learner shot when bus is robbed

“It is an extreme display of cowardice and depravity to attack defenseless learners and to gamble with their lives for mere cell phones.”

A Brooklyn learner was shot when a bus transporting learners was robbed at gunpoint in Lusaka Mamelodi this afternoon.

Community safety MMC Karen Meyer said the bus was transporting learners from Brooklyn and Curo international schools.

One learner was shot while another was injured.

She said they are both being treated at a private hospital in Brooklyn.

Meyer strongly condemned the attack.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms today’s senseless attack on learners in Lusaka in Mamelodi.”

“It is an extreme display of cowardice and depravity to attack defenseless learners and to gamble with their lives for mere cellphones.”

“I trust that law enforcement will investigate this speedily and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

She said she was thankful the learners are safe.

“I trust the learners will receive counselling for this traumatic incident and make a speedy recovery.”

“We are confident that the implementation of the new TMPD framework for crime prevention will enhance visible policing to deter criminals.”

“Senseless violent crime is an abomination in our communities, and these criminals have no place in society.”

“All Tshwane residents deserve to live in a city that is safe,” said Meyer.
