A man was assaulted during an armed robbery at a café in the Moot yesterday.
The robbery happened on the corner of 24th Avenue and Hertzog Street around 15:00, said police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits.
“Three armed suspects entered the shop and confronted the owner,” she said.

She said they stole six cell phones, cigarettes and an unknown amount of money before they fled the scene.
Reinhard Raschke of MCS Security said the owner of the shop was attacked and sustained minor injuries.
He said the three robbers fled in a white vehicle, but added that they could not make out the make or registration number of the vehicle.

He said business robberies, especially at foreign national shops, were a problem in the Moot.
“These business owners are usually easy targets because they open early and stay open until late,” he said.
“They are often alone, work mostly only with cash and are unarmed. These robberies happen too often.”
