Three men were caught red-handed while stealing copper cables from a mini-power station in Sunnyside in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
“The suspects were spotted near the corner of Beckett and WF Nkomo streets by guards who then alerted police,” said Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela.
They were aged 28, 32 and 40.
Sunnyside station commander Brigadier Ramakamakama Kekana commended both his officers and the guards for responding promptly to the vandalism of the power station.
This arrest comes after Tshwane had experienced mass load shedding in the morning, causing bad traffic for residents.
Who is causing the traffic havoc in Pretoria today? #Eskom or the rain? pic.twitter.com/vdOzhLRkDz

Pretoria CBD in total darkness thanks to the corrupt characters which bankrupted our SOE's including eskom, maybe God in his infinite wisdom was referring to them when he talks about the love of money in the book of wisdom @Mathebuladp @nwanyango @Munghana

Tshwane market at a standstill because of loadshedding. How much would the economy lose today @Eskom_SA @CityTshwane @CyrilRamaphosa

#Loadshedding Tshwane is off! Just thinking if ANC Gvt can’t find solution for #Eskom, an entity. How can we expect them to have solution for a whole Country’s Economy?

Eskom had implemented Stage 3 rotational loadshedding on Tuesday.
Great! Put the blame on the City of Tshwane, Tebz. The reason you are in the dark due to #LoadShedding is because you are one of many who refuse to see the incompetence/corruption of those you voted into power. #Eskom is responsible bro and guess who hollowed out Eskom pic.twitter.com/wI7B4maAvi
