The DA will hold a press briefing this afternoon to announce a new Tshwane mayor.
DA MP Stevens Mokgalapa confirmed to Rekord that he will be the new mayor.
The briefing will be held in Bruma at 13:00.
Mokgalapa up until recently served as DA shadow minister of international relations and cooperation.
In the past week, he has been involved in the party’s attempts to arrange meetings with Zimbabwean president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
He is set to replace outgoing Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga.
Msimanga officially stepped down as the first citizen of the capital city to focus on his attempt to be Gauteng premier this week.
He had been the mayor of the capital since 2016 and talk of him stepping down had been doing the rounds as he concentrates on the campaign for the provincial top job.
