Two north high schools are among the top 10 best township schools in Gauteng.
Ratshepo and Ratshepo high schools in in Soshanguve and Hammanskraal respectively were rated top for achieving excellent matric results last year.
Ratshepo achieved an impressive 96 percent pass rate while Reitumetse scored 88.8 percent.
In the light of the excellent performance, Gauteng MEC for education Panyaza Lesufi visited the schools last week to thank, and encourage the teachers and learners to work even harder this year to do better.

Lesufi said the best-performing township schools in Gauteng deserved the necessary support to ensure they maintained their standards.
“Thank you for all your hard work that has you standing at the top as the best in the country. Thank you for being the best in the province and showing that it can be done.
“As a token of our appreciation for the hard work and pride you have given to this school, we are going to transform this school into a school of the future come January 2020,” said Lesufi.
In 2014, Reitumetse achieved 88.2 percent pass, 76.4 percent in 2015, 76.4 percent in 2016 and 78.8 percent in 2017.
“I hope the rest of our schools take encouragement from the commitment and hard work shown by the two schools,” Lesufi said.
