Brooklyn police seek divine intervention

“Officers asked God to keep house robbers, burglars and thieves out of the Brooklyn policing area.”

Brooklyn police officers last week replaced their normal morning parade with a prayer circle.

Together with community members, officers prayed for guidance as they embarked on various holiday campaigns.

The prayer was led by representatives from Brooklyn Doxa Deo church.

It focused on combatting crime and “claiming” the streets back from criminals.

“Officers asked God to keep house robbers, burglars and thieves out of the Brooklyn policing area,” said police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach.

“Community members also prayed for the safety and protection of the police officers who are serving them. Our operations cannot on their own ensure safer communities, not without divine intervention.”

Police aim to have more such programmes in the future, said Weilbach.

“These will focus on repairing injured human and spiritual values, spiritual crime prevention concepts and collaborations on drugs.”

Community members were requested to pray for their police officers and stations over the festive season and to pray against the abuse of drugs and other crime in their communities.

If you have any information regarding these crimes, you can provide it anonymously to the police by phoning 08600-10111 or by sending an SMS to 32211.
