Police find drugs during CBD morning raid

Tshwane west cluster police conducted raids in the CBD on Friday morning to curb illegal activities.

This interruptive operation was focused in the vicinity of Prinshof school, Boom and Riverdale streets, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.

She said the operation led to the arrest of four suspects for possession of drugs near Prinshof school.

“A recycling centre was found to be operating illegally. Tshwane metro police issued a fine to the value of R7 500 for contravention of by-laws. The SAPS also issued a fine of R1 000 for contravention of the second-hand goods act.”

Police also held discussions with taxi drivers and panel beaters along the street leading into Prinshof school about blockages of the street and washing of vehicles in open spaces.

“Taxi drivers were warned to stop their illegal actions immediately and ensure that the surroundings are kept clean or action will be taken against them.”

Selepe said the operation was extended to Brown Street and Marabastad where five suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

“Follow up operations will be held to focus on visible policing and conducting special crime awareness and prevention operations near Prinshof school and surrounding areas,” she said.
