Garsfontein SAPS pounce on suspected burglars

A man suspected of involvement in several burglaries and at least one house robbery in Garsfontein has been apprehended.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Michael Nel said the arrest took place on Wednesday 24 October around 09:00.
Nel said members of the Garsfontein crime prevention team were following up on information about a grey Mercedes believed to be involved in several burglaries and at least one house robbery in the Garsfontein precinct.

“They spotted the vehicle in the Mamelodi area, which then took off in an attempt to escape but the driving ability of the police members proved to be too much for the fleeing suspects.”
Following the high-speed pursuit they cornered the vehicle.
“One occupant managed to escape by foot into the dense populated area, while the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
Nel said the investigation was ongoing and more arrests were expected to follow.
Garsfontein Station Commander Colonel Kervin Solomons commended the members for their dedication and important arrest.
He said while the police were doing everything in their power to secure the community, it could take preventative measures and assist the police to fight and prevent crime.
