NEWSFLASH: Police shoot one dead in Silverton

A high-speed chase allegedly followed a business robbery in Mpumalanga.

One suspect was shot dead and another arrested in Silverton on Friday morning.

This after a high-speed chase between the K9 units of the SAPS, the Tshwane metro police and the two suspects.

Police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said the chase allegedly followed a business robbery in Mpumalanga.

“Early on Friday morning about 04:00 the K9 units responded to a vehicle tracking device signal in Silverton.

Weilbach said when the police officers spotted the alleged stolen Ford Ranger bakkie on the N4 they tried to pull the vehicle over.

A high-speed chase ensued when it wouldn’t stop before the suspects lost control of the vehicle in Solomon Mahlangu Road.
