SCHOOL: Maragon Olympus father, child journeys
We invite parents to embark on a very special and unique adventure provided by the Doxa Deo family.
Many parents have a desire to effectively mentor their children to help them make the correct choices according to God’s intention for their lives.
Because everyday lives are so busy, parents are often unaware of the major changes taking place in their children’s lives as they grow up.
Consequently, parents neglect to adapt to their children’s changing needs. At Maragon Olympus, we firmly believe that God’s intention is for families to enjoy a lifelong journey of love and companionship.
Therefore, we invite parents to embark on a very special and unique adventure provided by the Doxa Deo family.
The father and son/father and daughter journey has become an integral part of our Grade 7 year.
It provides the platform from which parents and learners become prepared for and develop a mutual understanding of the new boundaries this season of transition might bring forth.
Due to the uniqueness of gender-related needs, the father and son/father and daughter journeys have been divided into Becoming a Lady, which focuses on fathers and their daughters and Training for Reigning, which focuses on fathers and their sons.
The drive of each of these journeys is to facilitate a process within which fathers and children gain knowledge and skills as well as the opportunity to put what they have learnt into practice.
Fathers are thus empowered to affirm their children as they develop toward adulthood.
This year, the fathers and their daughters had a movie night, salsa lessons and an amazing race. The fathers and sons went paintballing and the fathers showed their sons the ins and outs of shaving.
It was all ended off with a very special night where the fathers and daughters could show off their salsa skills.
The fathers of sons had the opportunity to affirm them as adults and encourage them to take up their new responsibilities as young men.
Our dream is for all learners and parents to be able to take part in this, much needed, journey to affirm young men and ladies.
