East imbizo to address gender-based violence at varsities

The Imbizo is part of a national effort to find ways to prevent violence on higher education campuses.

The prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) at institutions of higher learning will take centre stage during an imbizo in the east on Monday.

The dialogue hosted by the department of higher education will be held at Mamelodi campus of Tshwane north college aimed at finding ways to prevent violence on higher education campuses in the country.

“Several events will be hosted during women’s month to bring attention to these issues of gender-based violence,” the organisers said.

“It is also a step towards improving access to support and care services to help survivors recover and resume their education.”
