A Brooklyn husband was arrested today in connection with the murder of his wife whom he had reported as missing earlier.

A Brooklyn husband was arrested today for the murder of his wife whom he had reported as missing earlier, police said.

Prem Emmanuel Basdeo appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on the same day on charges of murder, defeating the ends of justice and perjury.

The case was postponed until 21 June 2018 while Basdeo remains in custody.

Basdeo reported his wife missing last week when she left their home in the morning and never returned.

“Investigation lead to the arrest of Prem Emmanuel Basdeo (58), on Thursday, 14 June 2018 for the murder of his wife,” said police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach.

Dawn left her home at 09:00 on Friday for Little Company of Mary Hospital, but she never arrived at the hospital or returned home. She has been missing since then.

“Her husband reported her as missing at the Brooklyn police station the same evening,” police said.

“The man will also be charged for defeating the end of justice and perjury because he was not truthful in his initial statement when he reported his wife as missing.”

On Sunday evening a silver grey 2007 Mercedes ML 63 was found abandoned in Soweto which was allegedly used by Dawn during the time of her disappearance.
