SCHOOL: Crawford College ICT students win with educational mobile app

The learners were selected to compete against 100 teams from 10 countries.

Grade 12 learners Saien Naidoo and Laolou Ayo-Yusuf, will represent Crawford College Pretoria and South Africa at the 8th e-ICON World Contest in Honolulu, Hawaii in June.

The learners were selected to compete against 100 teams from 10 countries around the world from 24 to 30 June to see who the best innovators in the education sector were.

Described as the e-Learning Olympics, the e-ICON World Contest launched in 2011 to develop highly qualified teachers and students in the field of ICT.

Annually, the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education (IACE) organises the contest, now in its eighth year to find the best learner-designed mobile app that “provides a solution for the global challenges in education”.

ICT departments in schools submit their designs and the best are chosen for the competition.

Saien Naidoo and Laolou Ayo-Yusuf were selected as the only team to represent South Africa at the contest.
