His mother Betty Klymsit told Rekord that “the hospital wants me to pay a R100 000 deposit”.

She said doctors at the hospital were working tirelessly to stabilise Esterhuizen.

“The bones on his right side are badly broken, but they cannot be operated on because he is too weak,” Klymsit explained.

Esterhuizen was also said to be experiencing internal bleeding, as well as bleeding in the brain.

“He suffered a lot of injuries to his abdominal area and he is bleeding internally. Doctors are trying to get it to stop,” she said.

“I know his treatment is going to be expensive, but I know there are great doctors who are trying to help us.”

Klymsit said though they were all trying to be strong and praying for Esterhuizen to live, their hearts were also torn about Brits.
