The confusion around the “arrest” of two Tshwane metro police officers continues.
According to reports, the officers were allegedly arrested in Lyttleton on Monday morning for corruption, kidnapping, assault and extortion.
Metro police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Mgiba seemed to confirm when she said: “At this stage, we can confirm that two of our officers have been arrested for corruption. Please contact the SAPS for more information.”
Then SAPS spokesperson Captain Augastinah Selepe threw a spanner in the works.

“The two officers have not been arrested but police are investigating a charge of assault,” she said adding she could not divulge further details.
Selepe said the matter had been handed to the Independent Investigative Directorate (Ipid).
When Rekord contacted Ipid on Monday afternoon, spokesperson Moses Dlamini said he was not aware of the case, but would check.
At the time of print, Rekord had been unable to reach him for a response.
