Senokoane said it all started 14 years ago when she organised a “mother and daughter pass-the-baton of entrepreneurship” conference in Mamelodi.

“God revealed to me the important role of spiritual women in this country.”

The recent gala dinner was attended by more than 200 women and their daughters, some from Limpopo, North West, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and the Free State.

Senokoane said: “The aim of the event was to empower mothers to become victorious women, capable of mentoring their daughters. We also want them the mothers to be able to guide their daughters to their divine destiny and throughout the years the Lord has guided us to various batons.”

She said since this project started they have had themes like the baton of excellence, faith, understanding and entrepreneurship.

This year the theme was leadership.

Lusanda Khatom said as a young woman, attending the conference taught her a lot.

“We are grateful to what the church has started and as young people, we promise to carry this legacy moving forward,” she said.

Vuyiswa Mahlangu, a mother, said: “This conference does not only help the young girls but us as mothers as we learn a lot. I would love to encourage mothers to take this event very seriously.”
