Pretoria High School for Girls make huge money donation to crisis centre

‘The donation will make a radical change in the women’s lives and the future of their unborn babies.’

Pretoria High School for Girls has helped boost the coffers of a centre that looks after pregnant women who need help.

The school donated R40 000 to Bethany pregnancy crisis care centre on Monday.

The centre helps women of all ages to deal with any crisis or unplanned pregnancy.

It also provides specialised counselling for victims of rape, physical or emotional abuse.

PHSG head girl Tshegofatso Matlou said it was important for women to help one another through their difficult circumstances.

“Helping Bethany pregnancy crisis care centre is one way that we can reach out to women in need,” she said.

The money were raised through the girls’ annual spring fair held on 26 August where attendees had to pay an entrance fee.

Deputy head girl Kiese Mpasa extended her gratitude to those that helped make the donation possible.

“It is a wonderful feeling to know that with the help of our parents, teachers, fellow learners and all those who attended the spring fair, we were able to make this donation possible,” she said.

Centre director Lizelle Jonker said the donation will make a radical change in the women’s lives and the future of their unborn babies.

“As a non-profit organisation, the Bethany pregnancy crisis care centre depends totally on donations to keep the centre running,” she said.

“These donations ensure that we are able to run awareness campaigns, train counsellors and provide mothers who keep their babies with essential baby items such as nappies, baby wipes, formula, baby cleaning products, baby clothes/ car seats/ prams and so on.”

Jonker said they were thankful to PHSG for the generous donation.

“This will go a long way in helping us run this ministry more effectively. Thank you for your support and care, we appreciate it so much,” Jonker said.

She said the public should remember them in their prayers and also tell others about the ways they can support the centre.

“Support us if you are able and help us to keep our service free to the public,” she said.
