Tshwane councillor Tau wins DA top post

“Congratulations to the newly elected regional executive, led by the new chairperson, Abel Tau.”

Abel Tau, ward 92 councillor in the metro, has been elected DA Tshwane chairperson.

He was elected during a regional conference on Saturday held at the Batter Boys Caterers in Montana.

Tau said he was happy to have been elected and promised to do all he could to ensure that he served the people of Tshwane adequately.

He spoke about a recent newspaper article he said was an attempt to tarnish his campaign, and where he was accused of being “anti-white”.

“That article said that I am against white people and that I think that the DA is full of whites. That is not true, I am for all races. It’s because the ANC is scared of the DA winning the elections next year,” said Tau.

Tshwane mayor and DA provincial chairperson Solly Msimanga congratulated Tau for his victory.

“Congratulations to the newly elected regional executive, led by the new chairperson, Abel Tau. The road to 2019 (elections) is going to be a long and trying one. It will need leadership that is dedicated, passionate and focused on ensuring that we become victorious,” said Msimanga.
