The number of A Re Yeng buses running in Mamelodi will be increased from 30 to 45 from Monday, the Tshwane metro announced.

A Re Yeng, the metro-controlled bus service, began operating in Mamelodi on 2 October after taking over the route from AutoPax.
The metro said the increase was in response to demand in the area.

“The increase in demand shows that the takeover of the service by the city has been well received by the community,” he said.
The increase of buses in the fleet will not result in any route change or increase in bus fares.

Autopax, a state-owned transport entity, was requested by the Gauteng department of roads and transport to operate a bus service in Mamelodi when Putco pulled out in 2015.

Mamelodi commuter, Peggy Sikele said she was happy with the A Re Yeng buses.

She said the efficient service would save people jobs and money.
Previously commuters complained that they had lost their jobs for absenteeism and being late for work because AutoPax buses “sometimes didn’t show up or were late”.
She said she was always on time at work now. Since A Re Yeng was affordable, commuters no longer spend too much money to get to work.
