NEWSFLASH: Sports outlet in Menlyn robbed

Adidas store in Menlyn shopping centre robbed.

A sports outlet was robbed in Menlyn Park shopping centre on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said three armed men entered an Adidas store in the morning, using a back door in a service passage.

”The store manager and a female employee were inside the store.  The suspects threatened them in Sotho and took their cellphones and an undisclosed number of sport shoes and some clothing.”

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said paramedics found a man and a woman lying on  the floor. Both employees were tied up.

“The 27-year-old woman suffered relatively minor injuries. She was in a stable condition and was transported by ambulance to hospital,” said Dollman.

Weilbach strongly urged people to report strange events and movement to the police.

Menlyn shopping centre spokesperson Olive Ndebele said the Centre had been secured and the mall was trading as usual.

Police were investigating.
