“We are going to ensure there is law and order in this area,” said Msimanga.

Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga visited the notorious Brown Street in the Pretoria CBD on Tuesday.

He was joined by Tshwane metro police chief Jenny Malan.

Brown Street is known for being a hotbed of criminal activities, ranging from drug peddling to prostitution in the dilapidated buildings.

Speaking to the media, Msimanga said the problem in ridding the area of criminal elements was that efforts had not been coordinated.

“We are going to ensure there is law and order in this area,” said Msimanga.

Msimanga said the metro wanted the police to have a permanent presence in the area.

He said there were plans to set up a satellite police station and officers would also patrol and police the area.
