He will appear in the Hatfield Community Court on drug-related charges.

26-year old man was caught with drugs in his possession in the east of Pretoria on Tuesday.

“Police officers are often counting on their sixth sense when combating crime. They decided to stop the man and searched him.”

Weilbach said officers found a ring (single packaging used for drugs) containing the drug nyaope inside his trouser pocket.

“They searched his bag and found 249 rings containing nyaope.”

The man was arrested on the spot and would appear in the Hatfield Community Court on drug-related charges.

“Nyaope is illegal and contains heroin, which is listed in the Drug and Drug Trafficking Act, 1992 (Act No 140 of 1992),” Weilbach said.

“This law prohibits the use, possession, production and commercialisation of an undesirable, dependence-producing substance.”
