GALLERY: Deep Roots Market attracts young and old

We have approximately 29 vendors, some of them are selling crafty foods, various goods and confectionary.

Several people gathered to enjoy their Friday evening at the Deep Roots Market in Groenkloof.
Event organiser Sheldon Crabtree said he was happy about and appreciated the turnout.
Crabtree said that there were 29 vendors taking part in the market selling a variety of items from drinks, food, jewellery to other crafts.
“Some of them are selling crafty foods, various goods and confectionary.  We started in February this year and have been getting stronger since then because we use Facebook to advertise our events,” said Crabtree .

He added that no flyers were used to promote the event.
“We have everything to offer here, even our drinks are reasonable. Beers are R15 and ciders are R18, we even have live bands who come join us every first Friday of the month,” he said.
Crabtree said the the bands from Pretoria and this was a platform to showcase the local talent.
The market attracted an elderly couple, Stanley and Heather Micallef  celebrating their 49 years of marriage.

The Micallefs said their secret to marriage was “patience, forgiveness and never reminding your spouse of old mistakes”.
“We also want to spread our knowledge to the young and to learn from them as well. Which is why we are happy to be here tonight,” said Stanley.
