Loads of activities expected at Avodazz festival

“Our own mayor Solly Msimanga will open the festival.”

Plans are starting to fall in place for the Avodazz Arts and Crafts and Avocado festival in Capital Park.

The two-day festival will start on 27 May at the Capital Park sports and community centre in Myburgh Street from 08:00 to 18:00.

Marketing director Paul de Lange said residents had many activities to look forward to.

“We will have our own Mrs, Miss and Mr Dazzling on 27 May,” said De Lange.

“There will also be karaoke on both days for a mere R5 per song.”

De Lange said more than 50 stalls were expected at this year’s festival.

“Our own mayor Solly Msimanga will open the festival.”

“There will be activities for children with lucky draws, an array of food to choose from, arts and crafts, and an avocado competition.”

Chairman Mike Burt said the Avodazz festival had been going on for a number of years.

This year however, will be the first time in two years that the festival will be held.

Burt described the festival as vibrant.

“When you are at the festival, you can feel the nice atmosphere that surrounds it,” said Burt.

“It fits in with the theme of Capital Park – Pretoria’s own art village.”

The Avodazz festival is organised by the Capital Park Residents and Ratepayers Association (CAPRRA).

The CAPRRA is a non-profit residents company, managed by local residents to address community issues such as land use, traffic problems, community safety and marketing.

“We see a safe, clean and prosperous Capital Park, a neighbourhood filled with art galleries and studios, coffee shops and ‘feel good’ destinations,” said Burt.

“A hub of creative and inspiring people, building a better neighbourhood and contributing to an effective city and a prosperous South Africa.”
