Mamelodi residents protest over illegal connections

Homeowners complained the increase in their utilities’ bills were due to the illegal connections allegedly by neighbouring shack residents.

“Illegal shack owners have illegally connected the water and electricity, this has led to an increase in the bills for home owners in Mahube,” said Moganedi.

She said that the area was calm and that police were monitoring the situation.

Allegedly, the protesters were waiting for Tshwane metro MMC for housing and human settlements Mandla Nkomo to address them.
